Dr. Michael Jerman

Dr. Michael Jerman has been an integral part of Desert Cardiology since joining the team in 1990.

Although he holds undergraduate degrees in biology, chemistry and psychology, Dr. Jerman did not immediately immerse himself in medicine. Following college, he taught for one year. During that year he was encouraged to volunteer in an emergency room, which turned out to be a rewarding experience. In fact, he enjoyed it so much he applied to medical school – one of the best decisions of his life. Then and now, he finds the intellectual challenges, interpersonal relationships, and demand for talent extremely gratifying.

Dr. Jerman was born in Tucson, but with a father in the Air Force, his family moved quite often. In the States, he resided in Michigan, Nebraska and Florida. Following stays in Okinawa and the Philippines, he moved to California. He then returned to Tucson and completed middle school, high school, college and medical school. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa and attended UCLA for his cardiology fellowship.

Dr. Jerman is the father of two beautiful, outstanding young women. When time allows, he enjoys playing and watching tennis. He also enjoys reflecting with loved ones about his life experiences.
