Hrishikesh S. Iyengar

Hrishikesh “Hrishi” Iyengar is Desert Cardiology of Tucson’s newest addition. Arriving in August, 2008, from chilly Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Iyengar has recently completed his fellowship in interventional cardiology from the prestigious Henry Ford Hospital and specializes in clinical and interventional cardiology. His addition to our group brings to our community an important expertise in some of the newer technologies in coronary and peripheral vascular intervention, and complements the subspecialty interests and expertise of our established providers.

Dr. Iyengar’s interest in medicine was sparked early on in his life. His fascination with the workings of the human body coupled with his desire to improve the quality of people’s lives prompted his entry into the field of medicine. In his native city of Bombay, India, Dr. Iyengar completed his medical degree before making his move to the United States, whereupon he completed both his internal medicine internship and residency followed by his fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology.

Dr. Iyengar’s family is geographically spread out, with his parents residing in Bombay and his sister and nephews living in San Francisco, but they remain close to his heart and he makes an effort to visit as often as possible. An especially important person in Dr. Iyengar’s life, his fiancée, is presently closing the geographic gap as she relocates to Tucson!

One of the things that drew Dr. Iyengar to Tucson was the opportunity to live amidst the natural beauty of the desert and engage in his favorite outdoor activities such as hiking and running.

Dr. Iyengar’s travels have taken him near and far with his favorite vacation spot being Kauai, Hawaii. Water adventures and breathtaking hikes make Kauai a must-see vacation destination for Dr. Iyengar.

As he settles into his new life here in Tucson, Dr. Iyengar looks forward to exploring the desert southwest and making a meaningful impact on Tucson’s medical community.
